"Faith Trumps Fear"-Words that I clung to prior to our departure to South Korea. Uncertainty often leads to fear and we found this to be a common theme with our team. Yet, the large step of faith that each took in moving forward is a place card holder with the hall of faith! Prayers have been answered and God's Spirit has moved before us and behind us. Our faith has grown us by leaps as we keep our eyes on the prize (Hebrews 12:1-2). Watch out Pohang....God is moving!
Day two at Daemyung Community Center in Pohang was another faith builder! After a hectic start and many kids not open to listening to God's Word (especially God's word in English), the team was exhausted at the close. But pushing on, the team prayed boldly in the morning of day two that the kids hearts would soften to God's Word and to us! We prayed that we could step out in faith again and trust God for the result. Albeit another high energy day; we turned the corner and the kids started speaking more boldly in English and became more engaged as we shared the story of "The Tale of the Three Trees". Each child heard heard about the tree's dreams and how God's vision for them was so much better. They then began to share about the visions that they had for their future and many understood that God had a plan for them too. Knowing that many of the kids that we are working with are from the inner city puts a different light on their visions for me. They excitedly shared that they wanted to be ambassadors, kindergarten teachers, social workers, policemen, doctors, lawyers, chefs and the list went on....each with a vision. One high school student shared that he wanted to become a doctor so he could go out on the missionary field and bring many to Christ.
Yes, I was in awe at the close of day two. In awe of these young people at the Daemyung Community Center and what their vision is....in awe of our CCEA team and how God is using each one...but simply, in Awe of our God! Thank you God for growing our faith!
