안녕하세요 (that is Hello in Korean)!
Today we hit the ground running... literally! We took in all the sights, sounds and tastes of Pohang!
We started the day with a walk through rice fields. It was interesting to learn all about rice from planting, cultivating and harvesting it! We felt a little more at home too because we were able to see the beach. It is definitely colder at the beaches but nice to hear the waves and feel the breeze.
Next, we were off to Jukdo Market. This was quite an experience! We walked into a meat market and got to see much more than we normally do back home. Jukdo Market is almost indescribable! Just imagine rows and alley ways full of vendors selling seafood, desserts, textiles, clothing, produce, china and more. We spent a couple of hours strolling through sampling and purchasing items. My favorite part was the seafood section. We saw live octopus, crab, eel, lobster and squid, to name a few. Motorcyclists or small trucks would drive through the narrow alley ways and drop off fresh seafood that was caught from the sea a few blocks away! Talk about straight from the sea!
After the market we went to Joyful Life Church. We were able to spend some time with their Junior Youth Choir. We were able to perform for them and teach them the hand motions to the song "Counting on God." The children then performed some songs for us! They are beyond gifted and talented! What a joy it was to spend time with them!
We ended our day with authentic Korean BBQ (yum-o!) and Patbingsu (Korean shaved ice). Delicious!
Please continue to join us in prayer as we start week 2! We have a lot in store including our VBS, spending time with the children from SunRin Orphange and the Women's Hope Center. Pray that we would seek the Lord for His strength to work and do His will. We are so excited to see what He is going to do!
