Name: Melanie Castillo
Occupation: Manager at UCI Medical Center
Favorite verse or passage: Psalm 139:23-24, Hebrews 13-8, Ezekiel 36:26, Jeremiah 33:3
Favorite book (besides the Bible): Anything Nicholas Sparks...including the Notebook and A Walk to Remember
Favorite place: Ecuador - I am Ecuadorian and I love going back to visit to explore my roots and culture. As I get older, I am learning to appreciate my heritage
3 words to describe myself: Optimistic, Dedicated, Loving
Most embarrassing moment: My mom made me play the trombone in 5th grade despite the trombone being bigger than my body and despite my inability to play a decent tune
Something on my bucket list: Skydiving
Random fact about myself: I floated in the Dead Sea in Israel
What am I looking forward to most about South Korea: How the Lord will use the team for His glory and honor. The Lord has been providing and answering prayers before the mission and I know the Lord has great victories planned for our mission. I also look forward to visiting the drop box and loving on all children at Pastor Lee's church. I look forward to planning the English Vision Camp (VBS) and watching the Lord touch the lives of the South Koreans.
What I would like to gain from this mission trip: To grow a closer bod to God's people and to manifest His will as a united team. I know the Lord will mold the team to his image and we will grow together in His love. I want to gain a deeper love for the lost and know how to serve God's people in love and humility. Also, a better cultural competency about South Korea!
What areas in my walk I am hoping to strengthen through this trip: My boldness to share my faith with others, especially strangers. This will be a new experience for me and I know the Lord will stretch me and take me out of my comfort zone for His glory. I pray that the Lord grows my gifts to better serve Him. "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
Finish the statement: If a genie granted me 3 wishes, my wishes would be...
1. Do several adventurous activities and not kill myself like cave diving, base jumping and cliff jumping.
2. Visit every country on earth
3. Meet my great grandparents to learn more about my culture and past heritage
Prayer Requests:
> Pray that the Lord would bring many kids to the VBS with ears to hear and open hearts to feel His love.
> Pray that the Lord encourages me to step out in faith and be a light in South Korea
> Pray that the Lord unites our team and uses each of us for His will
